Another stay at Sandy River, this time for a family reunion. We rented the Eagles Nest and Deer Run cabins, as well as the Shining Star tipi for the weekend. The cabins are beautiful and rustic looking. Clean and well stocked for our reunion. The tipi is visually stunning, inside and out. My brother and his family stayed in the tipi and said it was very comfortable and well furnished, with plenty of room for the four of them. All our kids played soccer in the field beside the tipi, we had a bonfire in the evenings for roasting marshmallows and making smores. On Saturday, 6 people from our family ranging in age from 13-53 yrs old took on the high ropes course! Its so nice that there are different routes and difficulty levels to choose from so that everyone could find their own comfort level. My son enjoys the Black Diamond level, while others stuck to the easier routes. All enjoyed the zipline payoff! Then it was off with our big bags of carrots and apples to find my grandsons"s three favorite friends on the resort....Doodles the horse, and the two mini donkeys, Mario and Luigi. My two grandkids, ages 3 and 1, love feeding their "buddies"!
Saturday evening it was steaks on the furnished Weber charcoal grills, and back to the bonfire pit after dinner for more family time. Sunday morning we all had breakfast together in one of the spacious cabins and then back to feed Doodles, Mario and Luigi breakfast one last time.
We rented out the tepees and cabins at Sandy River for our wedding in Farmville. We had a wonderful experience! Everything was beautiful. The decorations were modern and stylish. There were thoughtful touches like makeup wipes and shampoo. Our guests were thrilled and showered us with compliments on our lodging. We definitely plan to visit again!
We stayed in the Dreamcatcher glamping tipi and had a wonderfully relaxing time. The highlights were feeding carrots to the miniature donkeys( Mario and Luigi) and just relaxing. Candace was helpful, friendly, and accommodating and we just enjoyed hanging out and wandering around the property.
The Dew family
We also enjoyed the ropes course. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Overall it was an amazing stay at Sandy River and we definitely will be back!
We wanted a unique memorable experience for our family. Our four kids all had fun and we did too. We took advantage of a teacher workday backed up to voting day to have our adventure. They had obstacles and zip lines for all of our interests and we didn’t have to worry about capturing the experience because they had a photography service. We loved tipi because half the family wants to rough camp and the others want five star accommodations. They provided all the camping items and the accommodations were georgeous with beautiful craftsmanship in the tipi.
Great place to stay and relax with the family. Cabin was very clean , comfortable, and had every amenity needed.
Only a couple of suggestions....more dining table space for the larger 3bedroom cabin would be nice, and although there were plenty of logs piled near the firepit, more split firewood would be helpful. They catch quicker and burn easier than the logs (which is important when kids are impatient to get their marshmallows and smores in before bedtime!)
Everyone who worked there was so nice and helpful.
Since it was November, we didn't rent any canoes or kayaks to take out on the huge reservoir, but we did take the short drive over to the water to see the beautiful Autumn colors.
